Dhanteras corresponds to the first day of the five-day-long Diwali celebration. In the word Dhanteras, ‘Dhan’ stands for prosperity and ‘Teras’ refers to the Dhanwantari Triodasi. On the day of Dhanteras Goddess Lakshmi is devoted to offering prosperity and happiness.
